Smithfield Parents, please join us on Friday, January 4, 2019 8:15am-9:15am for a parent workshop. We will begin with a brief presentation about why movement in school is so important for children and helps with learning. After the presentation we will break into groups and visit classrooms and special area classes to see movement in action. Please RSVP through the link below if you plan to attend. Hope to see you there!
Due to the two hour delay start this past Tuesday, December 11th, the All Pro Dads Breakfast has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 18th. Doors will open at 6:45am and breakfast is at 7:00am. Breakfast will be followed by a fun parent-child activity, video or guest speaker.
Smithfield Elementary School is participating in the Loaves & Fishes Annual Food Drive. This is the last week to donate!!! Smithfield is collecting non-perishable food items such as canned fruits or vegetables, canned meats and pastas, corn muffin mix, powdered milk, cereal, 100% fruit juice, etc. For safety reasons, no glass please! By collecting these items, we can help in providing groceries to our neighbors in need at pantries located throughout Mecklenburg County.
Last year, Loaves and Fishes was able to provide groceries to more than 76,000 people. The top collecting class will be recognized with a pizza party!
Tuesday, December 18 is an exciting day! Visions of sugar plums and a fun-filled winter break dance merrily on everyone’s minds. To make the day extra special, Smithfield teachers and staff invite the students to wear their pajamas to school and bring a favorite book or two. We will have a school wide Pajama and Read-In day to kick off our winter break! Please, wear appropriate shoes (no slippers!).
